A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD Lampeter girl was so inspired by her dad’s charity trek along the Great Wall of China in May that she is now planning her own fundraiser – by climbing Snowdon!
Little Robyn Jones is following in the footsteps of her dad – local PCSO Ryan Jones – who raised £5,800 for the Ty Hafan children’s hospice when he joined a group of the charity’s fundraisers in their Chinese adventure.
“She watched video clips put out by Ty Hafan on what they provide for children and seemed to think that what I did was quite amazing,” Ryan, 29, told the Cambrian News.
“A couple of weeks later she announced she wanted to do something for Ty Hafan as well.
“This was around the time of the Manchester bombing and Robyn actually said she felt there was more good than bad in the world.
She then said: ‘Dad, we’re going to go up Snowdon’.
“I can’t say I was jumping for joy at the prospect because when I last went up Snowdon in 2015 the weather was not what we’d have hoped for, to be honest.”
But now father and daughter are planning to make their attempt on 23 September – and Robyn has set up a Just Giving page which has already raised £70 in donations.
